Katrine joined Newland & Newland, LLP in 2015 and was honored to become a partner in 2022. In 2023, she was selected by Super Lawyers as an Illinois Rising Star—recognition she attributes to the trust of her clients and the support of her colleagues. She has served as Co-Chair of the Lake County Bar Association Real Estate Committee since 2020. She was also first elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County for the 2023–2024 term and was reelected for the 2025-2026 term. Katrine is regularly invited to speak at bar associations and professional organizations across Illinois, where she shares insights on estate planning and real estate with fellow practitioners.

Dedicated to giving back, Katrine volunteers with Wills for Heroes, preparing estate plans for first responders and their families. She is an active member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, the Lake County Bar Association Trusts and Estates Committee, and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Before joining Newland & Newland, LLP, Katrine practiced at a Chicagoland firm, gaining early experience in real estate, estate planning, probate, and elder law. She also brings a rich background in public policy, having worked in the United States House of Representatives, the United States Senate, and Scottish Parliament, and the British House of Commons, focusing on education, children, and family policy.

Katrine earned her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College with a dual degree in Psychology and Political Science, followed by a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Public Management and Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She received her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was named a Dean’s Scholar, Pro Bono Pledge honoree for substantial pro bono service, and participated in the Federal Legislation and Administrative Clinic.

Katrine lives in Vernon Hills with her husband and sons. Outside of her practice, she enjoys contributing to her HOA gardening committee and teaching her children how to cook.
